The Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering (IBB) participates in the BUILDing SCHOLARS Undergraduate Scholarship (headquartered at The University of Texas at El Paso). This is a prestigious research-intensive training program, funded by the National Institutes of Health and reserved for students with a strong motivation to become researchers in biomedical, social, behavioral or health sciences or biomedical engineering. Areas of emphasis include: addiction, cancer, environmental health, health disparities, infectious diseases, neurodegenerative and chronic diseases and translational biomedicine.

Group

In addition to coursework and research/mentoring activities at UTEP, participants will conduct summer research here at Rice University (one of 12 partner institutions). Applications for the Rice positions should be made through the University of Texas at El Paso BUILDing SCHOLARS site.
